All the staff were very helpful and friendly, didn't have to wait very long to check in and start my appointment. Marvin was very friendly and easy to talk to and understand my prescription!

Great staff ! Very helpful in finding my new glasses. Dr. Goncalves is great! Been going here for over 20 years. Went elsewhere for a couple years and my glasses were not right and Dr . G made the corrections for my new glasses! So glad I’m back !

Dr. Nakamoto is the best. Always give the best advice and treats every customer with care. He knows everyone by name and it is obvious that he loves what he is doing. I had a lot of help from the front desk ladies as well with picking glasses and other admin stuff. I asked their opinion on some frames and they didn’t mind to tell me which one they liked more!

My husband and I had a wonderful experience. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr. Marvin Nakamoto is awesome! He takes time to explain things and gives you an analogy so you can truly understand what is going on with your eyes. He also fixed an eye issue on the spot that my husband had had for a few years. My first time at the Midtown Optometric Group. From making an appointment, checking in, quality testing of my eyes for any issues, and getting my prescription. This place has a total commitment to my health. I love the attentiveness and caring of the staff, and their attention to detail. Everyone was knowledgeable, friendly, and courteous. The selection of frames was plentiful. I would say that this is a modern practice with a feeling of an old fashion office. I felt like I was visiting old friends. I recommend this place for your eye needs. I know that next year I will return to get my exam again. Thank you for your friendly service and expertise.

We have been going to the Midtown Optometric Group way before it was under VSP. Alex Goncalves has been our optometrist for nearly 40 years and we trust him completely.

This is my 2nd annual visit, and I have always found the visit experience pleasant, easy, convenient, and stress-free. The staff at the reception, especially Dr. Nakamoto, are friendly and patient with my questions. He is wonderful and clarifies queries and doubts with care and explains with ease. I highly recommend them as your eye care providers!

Phenomenal medical service. I just had an annual checkup with Dr. Nakamoto and absolutely loved the service and information provided to me by the medical team and the doctorm. My exam felt thorough, not at all rushed. No upselling, just lots of information about my eye care now, and things to look out for moving forward. Unfortunately, I am moving soon, but I really wish I could take this eyecare team with me!

I used to go to Stanton Optical (for some reason– they weren’t in network) and coming here instead was such a huge upgrade, and not just because my insurance actually covers things now. Instead of a hasty, oversimplified exam to update my contact prescription where I wouldn’t even meet an optometrist in person, they made sure to check on my eye health, ensure my prescription was as accurate as possible, and actively listened when I mentioned issues I’d had with my eyes and contacts. Pretty much my whole life I’ve been told I have high eye pressure, but Stanton never looked into it, nor do I think they had the technology to do so– my new optometrist at midtown optometric investigated it with multiple tests and for the first time gave me an answer to the mystery of why my eye pressure always reads as high. It didn’t take long, appointments were easy to book with plenty of times available, and my insurance was handled conveniently and transparently. It’s in a great location, and service was wonderful all-around. 10/10 very satisfied!

Dr Goncalves is excellent, professional, and kind. His caught some problems with his modern equipment. He has a very helpful staff. I’ve been going to him for 25 years. You can get frames elsewhere if you want.

Morning appointment was on time. Staff were very friendly and courteous. Dr. Nakamoto thorough and detailed with answering questions. Noticed several new machines for imaging nerves and blood vessels in eye. Have been seeing Dr. Nakamoto for decades and always received excellent service. Opticians are very good as well.

Dr. Goncalves is amazing! He takes his time and has a dialogue with patients that I have not experienced before. He explains everything and truely cares about your understanding of the visit and entertains all your questions. I've seen him for the last 15 years and wouldn't go anywhere else even though I live out of town. I'll be sad when he retires. He also does a great job understanding your insurance and working with your coverage. I've always ordered my glasses with him as he has a great modern selection and a helpful and caring staff. I've always been impressed with the whole system set up in the office. Very grateful to have him as my optometrist.
